When Gucci dipped into its archives to update and release a version of a brand favorite, the Horsebit, I immediately knew it would be the next big bag for the brand. It is a great bag for many reasons (I have one and adore it—review coming soon) and most importantly the style touches on every single aspect I, and many others, desire in a bag right now. Gucci continues to focus on this fan favorite bag and new versions just hit their ecomm site all focusing on the Horsebit, which remains one of the most iconic design elements in the House’s genetic code.
Recently launched is a new version of the Gucci 1955 Horsebit which is prominently featured in Gucci’s latest ad campaign, the Gucci 1955 Horsebit Small Top Handle. The top handle sports a domed shape with an optional leather shoulder strap and the iconic Horsebit detailing sits front and center on the bag. The bag’s slender body has an extended zip that spans the entire width of the body of the bag from side to side to allow for easier interior access. The inside offers both zipper and open pockets and dimensions are 9.8″ W x 9.5″ H x 3.5″ D. There are multiple leather colorways offered as well as the GG supreme canvas version, which when featured on the Horsebit designs remains my favorite. Prices vary from $2,490 for leather to $2,300 for canvas at Gucci.com.
There’s a larger Duffle that appears quite similar to the top handle mentioned above and then there’s the bucket bag which we’ve already covered. Another option is a tote, which makes for a great work bag, and there’s even two versions of a messenger bag. If you’re a backpack lover, fear not, Gucci’s got you covered there too, with a really beautiful leather option as well.
However, the now classic and celebrity and influencer favorite, the Gucci 1955 Horsebit Shoulder Bag, has even more options to choose from. There are exotics, solid color leather versions, new fabric options, and patterns as well. Every option from Gucci’s 1955 line is a House staple and the ideal purchase for anyone who’s a fan of the house’s storied DNA.
