Call me a psychic, but I’m 99 percent sure I know what’s going through your head right now: Why in the world would I spend a small fortune on a bag largely made out of plastic? Listen, I hear you. But if you’ve got a concert, sports game, or stadium event coming up, it might be worth a thought. Here’s why.
Depending on where your event is located, most stadiums don’t allow bags in the first place (gasp!) or only permit clear-colored purses. Lucky for you, the PVC trend, which peaked last year, shows no sign of slowing. That means there’s a plethora of stylish and transparent bags in almost every shape and size. Crossbody? Yep. Totes? No problem. Top-handle box? Yeah, we’ve got that too.
Not only do these bags have some sort of functional purpose (especially if you’ve got an event coming up), I personally think they’re quite chic as well. I’m still not entirely sure how I feel about throwing money down on an item lacking leather… which is why I did some digging and found a couple of options under $500. (I know, that’s still a lot—but compared to Valentino or Fendi, it feels like a steal.)
Speaking of Fendi, the see-through Mon Tresor Mini FF Bucket Bag is an eye-catcher. I fancy myself a Fendi girl, and this style, though pricey, is something I could see myself wearing with almost any outfit. (That’s definitely a benefit of a clear bag.) I’m also into Cult Gaia’s Mini Clear Gaia’s Ark Bag. Besides its reasonable price tag ($158), it reminds me of something I’d wear on an island getaway; and let’s be real, we all need a break from reality every now and then and if said break comes from wearing a bag, so be it. I also appreciate the Staud Frida Bag, which clocks in at under $250 and is surprisingly spacious. P.S. Who knew Stella McCartney made a PVC version of the Mini Falabella? #TheMoreYouKnow
Stadium event or not, would you jump on the clear bag trend? I’m thinking I’ll start small with the Cult Gaia and maybe work my way up to the Fendi. (Only if the trend proves itself as something that has the power to last longer than a couple of seasons.) What do you think?
